There are so many conflicting reviews on Alexanders, which I suppose is to be expected-however the majority rules-Alexander's Rocks. Yes, it is true that the managment has turned hands-Alex and his family left to the new female owner.. but the chef(s) My Father and Uncle (The Drake Boys) Have been there since 1980 and the food continues to be fantastic. Most of the waitresses have been there 10 plus years.. and the ones that WERE rude and obxious are noticebly gone now. So if you're in the mood for a great meal at a decent price.. you'll love Alexanders!

I can't understand the wide swing in reviews of Alexander's. Is someone trying to sabotage them? Having frequented Alexander's for a very long time, I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal there. I have had many many exceptional dinners. Our children and their friends now continue to support this restaurant. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable (many have been there for years). The new owner has tried to keep the menu the same, and she has added new items. Their white pizza is phenomenal, their artichoke hearts rival any I have eaten anywhere and their veal dishes are delicious. Try it, you will not be disappointed. The value is also great. These aren't Portsmouth prices.

The overall atmosphere is casual but you won't be out of place dressed up a bit. The food is fairly priced. The portion is on the larger size. I loved the mushrooms. They were very flavorful and thickly cut. The chicken that I had was a tad overcooked though. The service was good. The meal came out quickly. I can't wait to go back!

I live near this restaurant and FYI--it changed hands for those who haven't been there in a while. What a difference a couple of years makes. The management was exceptionally rude to us when we voiced our concern about the food, poor service and new management policies. I could not understand the reason for the huge discrepancy in food and attitude from one visit to the prior visit--until I found out that it had been sold. In short, the place that I liked is gone. On another occasion, I sat to eat and was greated with the smell of stale air and plastic. The restaurant could use a good cleaning and airing out as it smells musty. The waitress was unfriendly and when our pasta was overcooked, we were told that it would not be redone. The parking lot is often empty and when I asked management to deal with my poorly cooked meal, she claimed she had other customers. WHERE/ The bathroom was dirty, especially on the floor in the corners, and smelled of urine. There are cobwebs on the decorations in the dining room--probably because there isn't that great a turn over. The pasta was limp and the sauce was mediocre. The most unfriendly restaurant crew I have ever met. Limited desert menu--and the cake was bland and dry. A terrible experience. I regret that I can't find one positive thing to say about this place.
